Char Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Buns)
Fluffy steamed buns filled with lacquered char siu pork in a sweet-savory glaze. The pillowy dough soaks up myrcene's mango-earth notes from an infused hoisin drizzle.
Ingredients
- 1 lb char siu pork, diced small (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp cannabis-infused coconut oil
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 cups bao flour (low-gluten wheat + cornstarch)
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- ¾ cup warm water
- 2 tbsp sugar for dough
How to make it
- 1
Mix bao flour, yeast, 2 tbsp sugar, and warm water. Knead 10 minutes until smooth. Rest 1 hour.
- 2
Warm diced char siu with hoisin, oyster sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and cannabis coconut oil until glazed.
- 3
Cool filling completely.
- 4
Divide dough into 12 pieces. Roll each into a 4-inch circle.
- 5
Place a tablespoon of filling in the center. Pleat and twist to seal.
- 6
Rest buns 20 minutes. Steam over high heat for 12 minutes.
- 7
Let stand 2 minutes before opening the steamer (prevents collapse).
Cooking tips
- Use bao-specific flour for that cloud-like texture.
- Don't open the steamer early — thermal shock deflates buns.
- Leftover filling makes an excellent fried rice addition.

Why this pairing works
Myrcene — in your strain and on your plate
Myrcene is the most common terpene in cannabis and the engine behind many indica-style sedating effects. Earthy and herbaceous, it loves rich, slow-cooked, comforting foods.
